First of all I would like to say that I am glad to see so much support for Clay here in aikenforums.
I'm sure it would be comforting for him to know that there are fans that love and accept him no matter what his sexual preference is. I can only imagine the things that some of his "fans" are saying about him now and how hurt he would be to know that people who claimed to love him so much could turn off their feelings for him on the turn of a dime. I refuse to go to any other boards for the sheer sake of not wanting to subject myself to reading things that may get me all upset. I guess this will turn out to be a true test of who Clay's devoted fans really are/were. Unfortunately he will lose some fans but we must try to remember that just like some fans have their reasons for remaining supportive of him there are also those that have their reasons for not continuing to support him and most importantly, that everyone is entitled to their opinions and their feelings on the matter. Personally, I am really having mixed feelings about all of this. On one hand I am happy for him. I am happy that he can now just be himself and not have to lie or hide the truth about his sexuality. I am happy for him that he can now live comfortably without the worries of being exposed and I am happy for him that he is finally comfortable in being truthful to his fans as well as being comfortable with himself. I am happy for his happiness. But on the other hand I am pretty upset at the fact that he lied/denied/misrepresented himself for so long. I know that I am not a close friend or a loved one and I know that he doesn't owe me anything just because I am a fan but I still can't help but feel somewhat betrayed. I honestly don't see why it would have been so difficult for him to have been truthful from the beginning. I read the posts saying it is possible that Clay wasn't necessarily lying or purposely not being truthful because of the possibility of him not being sure that he was gay and/or the possibility that he had not come to grips with the truth himself. If he was 18, 19, heck even if he was 20 then I would be able to see the likelihood of that being so but I just don't see it as very likely that a grown man in his mid twenties did not know that he was gay or had not accepted it yet or that it took him this/that long to "realize" it. Also, if he didn't want to admit that he was gay or he was afraid to come out, then I don't understand why he didn't just "not say anything at all" one way or the other. What was the whole point of saying, "I'm not going to answer that question anymore because people will believe what ever they want to believe no matter what I say." I know that I will eventually get over it and in no time I will be all "gah gah" over him again, but for now I'm disappointed in him. Sorry, I just can't help it... --- I'm going to ask that people please be civil in discussing this subject. Please do not bash others for their opinions, their thoughts, their concerns, their take on sexual preference, their religious beliefs or their lack of a religious belief. No name calling or bashing of other members that have a different opinion than that of your own. Fortunately we are at liberty to speak more freely here than what is allowed at a lot of the other message boards but please keep in mind that fighting and name calling will not be tolerated. Thank you, Yvonne -------------------- ... ...![]() Have you ever fed a lover with just your hands? Closed your eyes and trusted, just trusted? Have you ever thrown a fist full of glitter in the air? Puhlease. I know you aren't playing that card. I probably have more morals and for sure more knowledge of the Bible than you ever will. But unlike me, you follow every bit of it, word for word? ....and my favorites: There you have it. There are more instances in the New Testament that God instructs slaves to obey their masters than there are condemning homosexual acts. How many slaves do you own, btw? I hope they're good Christians (under your definition of the word) and are obedient to you. -------------------- |

Maybe this has already been discussed and I just missed it, but... when does the actual issue come out? I think I'll have to pick up a copy.

I don't think Clay 'led' his fans on in the sense of being a good upstanding person. I'm not much of a fan, but wanted to say that.

I just wanted to point out something to those who feel betrayed by the Rolling Stone article. In the people interview...he said that he told his mom about four years ago. The Rolling Stone issue came out in 03 I think it's very much possible that he realized that he was gay after that.
I also don't think he lied to us by not saying it for the past few years. He was probably growing into it. Getting comfortable in his own skin or something. At least he didn't deny it. He merely evaded the question. All of that is just a guess of course. I'm not close to him or anything. I wouldn't REALLY know. But I'm so happy for him. I remember reading this post the other month about what some of you guys would do when he "returns". Y'all said you're be "Right Here Waiting". I hope that's still true...gay or straight. We're the fan group that stood the test of time. I personally could never leave him. His music means to much to me. I'm happy as long as he's doing what makes him happy. --------------------

Ooh, Clay should definitly date John or Jesse. They're bot hot
Come to think about something; Remember a year ago or something, with the webcam pictures of Clay apparently chatting on a gay site. Clay was pretty upset with it, making the 'make-your-own-scandal' contest. Maybe that was true after all. This totally made my whole day. Ahh, I'm so proud of Clay. -------------------- ![]() |

I'm very happy and proud of Clay for coming out. I understand his trepidations completely, and I don't feel as if he lied to us. Sexuality is something that is extremely personal and talking about it before you're ready is very uncomfortable. Especially growing up and living in the South. I just want everyone to respect his decision to wait.
I was kinda shocked...probably because I spent my entire Clay fandom defending him against everyone I knew when they would say he was gay. Not like I actually cared, but I didn't want to believe it until it came straight from the horse's mouth. As for the fans he's losing, I'm just like..." The baby is adorable. Awww. -------------------- ![]() Thanks, Allison!

Here's an E! Online article that has a lot more quotes from the interview!
http://www.eonline.com/uberblog/b30566_cla...ken_coming.html Clay Aiken is joining the ranks of the out and proud. The unlikely heartthrob, whose Southern gentlemanliness has made the young'uns love him and their moms want to pinch his cheeks, has revealed that he is gay in an upcoming cover story for People magazine, on newsstands Friday. So whether you're saying "Huh?!" or "About time!" this is the new state of the Claynation. "We can confirm that Clay Aiken and his son are featured on the next issue of People" the magazine confirmed in response to questions about its leaked cover, which boasts the pullout quote: "Yes, I'm gay." "It was the first decision I made as a father," Aiken says. "I cannot raise a child to lie or to hide things. I wasn't raised that way, and I'm not going to raise a child to do that." The 29-year-old pop star's sexuality came under increased scrutiny when he admitted to fathering a child with fiftysomething Jaymes Foster, sister of famed music producer David Foster. Parker Foster Aiken was born Aug. 8 in North Carolina, with Aiken writing on his blog that all families involved were "thrilled." In this week's issue, the born-again crooner acknowledged that revelations regarding his sexuality may be difficult for some in his fanbase. "Whether it be having a child out of wedlock, or whether it be simply being a homosexual, it's going to be a lot," he says. Aiken, who last week reprised his role as Sir Robin on Broadway in Monty Python's Spamalot, added however that he hopes his fans "know that I've never intended to lie to anybody at all. ... But if they leave, I don't want them to leave hating me." As for how his own family dealt with the news, the onetime American Idol runner-up admitted dropping the bomb on his mom four years ago when they accompanied his younger brother, Brett, to camp Lejeune before the latter deployed to Iraq. "I started crying in the car," Aiken recalled. "It was dark. I was sitting there, thinking to myself. I don't know why I started thinking about it ... I just started bawling. She made me pull over the car and it just came out." And while it took some time, he said his mom eventually learned to accept her son's sexuality. "She started crying. She was obviously somewhat stunned. But she was very supportive and very comforting," Aiken notes. "She still struggles with things quite a bit, but she's come a long way." The singer stressed that it was necessary for him to own up to what everybody kind of already knew for Parker's sake, so his son can be raised in an atmosphere that is "accepting and allowing him to be happy." Said Aiken: "I have no idea if he'll be gay or straight. It's not something I'll have anything to do with, or that he'll have anything to do with. It's already probably up inside the code there. . .No matter what the situation you're in, if you're raised in a loving environment, that's the most important thing." -------------------- Click Here to Visit The Clay Factory!

To those who feel stupid for defending him this whole time...DON'T. Think of it this way: you were believing the best about him. Now, don't get me wrong. I'm not saying that being gay is bad or that he;s a bad person or anything. I am keeping my personal views on the whole thing to myself, lol. I'm just saying that if someone calls another person gay or accuses them of something without proof, and that person denies it, I'm going to believe them until I see actual proof that shows otherwise. I'd rather do that, then accuse someone of something and be wrong about it. How would you like to be straight and continually accused of being gay and always having to defend yourself? That can't be any fun and so if someone tells me "I'm not gay," I'm going to drop it. I'm not going to accuse them or make them discuss the issue. I'm going to just believe them until they want to tell me otherwise, and if other people give them a hard time, I'll defend that person to the end because if the accusations are false, I sure as heck don;t want to be a part of that. I'd rather believe the best about someone and be wrong than to believe the worst and be wrong (or right). Not saying that Clay being gay is "the worst" thing to happen, but I hope you all understand what I am trying to say. And if people really are upset about it because of faith issues, then just pray for him. And remember to show some mercy and grace. Even when Jesus was being crucified, he said "Father FORGIVE THEM for they know not what they do" so if he can forgive the ones who were crucifying him, then I think you can forgive and show some mercy towards Clay for not being totally honest. I could not possibly agree more with you. Well said. "let go and let God". -------------------- |

I still listen to all the Clay cd's I bought, I will continue to buy Clay cd's provided the music and his voice remains as great, as it has always been. What else really matters? Go Clay, be happy, cuz now your music will be that much better! -------------------- |

Those were proven to be false as was the whole hotel room JP incident. Publicity stunts by a gay porn company, if I am remembering the story correctly. If you google, you'll see the articles. The guy (can't remember his name - JP something?) said that he was hired by the company to say those things and that they promised him a role in a film and some cash, I think. The web cam guy was a female impersonator who happens to resemble him when not in drag.
